The Block Island Ferry

The most common/popular way to get to the island is via ferry service. The New London ferry does not run this time of year, so all ferries will leave from Point Judith, RI. There is both a high speed ferry (30 minutes travel time) and a traditional ferry (1 hour travel time) that will get you to the island with departure times throughout the day. If you are planning to bring a car to the island (which is not necessary!), you will need to take the traditional ferry. We encourage you to book online or call to make a reservation. Car reservations will open on January 13th.

Westerly Airport - New England Airlines

There is a 15 minute flight from Westerly, RI to Block Island that runs hourly weather permitting. Parking at the airport is also free! Recommend calling in advance to reserve seats.

Airports

For those traveling by air to the Northeast, we recommend flying into TF Green Airport in Warwick, Boston Logan Airport in Boston, or Laguardia/JFK in NYC, and renting a car or taking a train from there. TF Green is the closest, about 40 minutes from the Block Island Ferry and 45 minutes from the Westerly Airport.

Recommended for anyone coming from New York or Boston without a car. Kingston station is on the Northeast Regional line and 25 minutes from the Block Island ferry. Westerly station is also on the Northeast Regional line and 10 minutes from the Westerly Airport or 40 minutes from the Block Island ferry.
