We met at church on a Wednesday night. He was invited to come visit by his best friend and I was teaching children's church so we did not meet until the service was over. We shook hands in the doorway, exchanging smiles - completely unaware that we had just met the person we were going to spend the rest of our lives with.

On September 6th, 2016 - we walked along the Cumberland Riverwalk, talking for hours. We stopped and sat on a bench, admiring the beautiful stars shining above us that night. He told me his feelings for me, and I was delighted to tell him I felt the same. He put his arm around me as we gazed at the stars just a little while longer - both of us suddenly realizing what it feels like when you find the reflection of your soul.

He surprised me with a dinner date at Bourbon Steak in Nashville as a belated Valentine's day celebration. I almost said out loud at one point "This would be the perfect place to propose to someone!" because of how nice it was. At the end of a wonderful dinner, the waiter suggested we go to the rooftop deck for pictures. A few poses in, he turns to face me and my brain can't think fast enough to figure out what's happening. I couldn't hear everything he said, but what I did hear loud and clear was "Victoria Destiny Simpson, will you marry me?" It really was the easiest "yes" of my life.
