How We Met

July 8th, 2020

We had previously messaged back and forth on a dating app called Bumble, however, we officially met for a bike ride at Happy Hollow Park near our university. We ended up talking for hours and kept making excuses to keep the date going i.e. "let's go for ice cream?" "do you like wine?" and so on. Since then, we just continue going on dates and falling in love with each other.

How She Knew

It was not a single moment, but a cumulative of small things that seemed too good to be true. He was an avid bicyclist and world traveller. He liked learning new things like skiing and engineering codes. As well, he was very upfront about being equal partners, appreciating my work, and respecting my wants. And when I learned he loved music and TedTalks, well, those were the cherries on top that helped me realize, "he's the one."

How He Knew

Some time ago some friends asked us about the things we do together. We realized what we do the most is to talk, exchanging ideas and conversing. It is not just chit-chat, but full-blown conversations about life, science, engineering, psychology, politics, sociology, and history. Also discussing difficult topics like immigration, abortion rights, gender equality, and LGBTQ rights. She is amazingly interesting! She is open to talk about any topic regardless of how difficult it is. I think I just fell in love during all our conversations about languages, trips and cultures, ski and rugby, motorcycling and baking, biking and road trips. She is the one because of all the things we share, our intrinsic values, our perception of life, what is truly important in life, and what we want from it.
