How we met

09/03/2010 - I played the long game

Tyler and I met around 2010 at St. Ignatius LifeTeen. After months of having the biggest crush on him and stealing at least one of his hoodies, he finally asked me on a date. We watched a movie and he kissed me goodbye, I was smitten but my horrible texting lead him to think I was not interested. As luck would have it though, we both ended up at A&M. Though our timing was never great and one of us was always in a relationship, we would still find ourselves at the same party or the same bar and have the smoothest and most natural conversations. No matter where we were in our separate lives, we always found ease of conversation with each other. Fast forward to Christmas break 2019, I was home in Houston from PA school, and decided to open my dating app, Bumble. When I did that, it updated my location and Tyler found me. After a "swipe right" and a text, we set up our ~second~ date. Needless to say, we were both still smitten. And I have been, easily, talking his ear off ever since.

When He Knew

01/10/2020 - Second date

I knew she was the one during our first date after finding her on bumble. We were sitting at an Italian restaurant, talking about anything and everything. Her smile, the way she treated everyone around her, and her sense of humor had me hooked. I knew I wanted to spend forever with her. And now I do.

The Proposal

10/23/2021 - The best gender reveal party ever

I knew the proposal was coming. He knew what I wanted, I was almost sure he had the ring, and we were running out of free weekends. Although I told him I wanted a surprise, I was positive there was no way he could pull it off. With his sister's impromptu gender reveal party on Saturday, October 23rd, it had to be Sunday the 24th. For half a second I considered the 23rd. A gender reveal party planned in only a week's time? Could it be an elaborate ruse? Naaaaaah, she needed me to get stickers, she needed Tyler to get balloons, she had so many people involved in planning, it had to be real. And that is how I walked up to my proposal with pink and blue balloons, an "it's a girl sticker" on my jumper (which it was), and a scowl looking for them on the other side of a pond. Tyler had completely tricked me. He had set it all up and surprised me with a beautiful picnic, the sweetest note, and the most perfect proposal. After a tearful yes and tackle, I remembered there was also a gorgeous ring that was now mine. So I said yes again and he put that ring on it. He followed it up with an engagement party including close friends and family and a steak dinner in the evening. It was the perfect day.
