How we met

In School 2002ish

Tiya was in 11th grade when she kept hearing all her friends saying, “Vicky is back”. At the time, she had no idea who Vicky was so this “news” meant nothing to her – she didn’t think twice about it. They eventually met in the hallway at school and Tiya was enamored. From that point on Tiya was determined to get to know Vicky better. So one day, Vicky skipped class (judge yourself, LOL) and ended up at Tiya’s lunch period (Tiya never skipped class) where Tiya finally got the nerve to ask one of her friends to ask Vicky if she wanted to “go together”. Vicky said yes, and they went together for a whole week. Although it didn't last long, they remained friends through high school and naturally went their separate ways upon graduating. Years later, after years apart, Vicky and Tiya were reunited at a mutual friend’s (Tre) cookout. Tre would have a cookout what seemed like every other weekend. Although the pair were fond of each other, Tiya never stayed single long enough so Vicky kept her in the friend zone. On Labor Day weekend 2010, once again, Tre had a cookout in which Tiya and Vicky decided to meet up. The difference this time was that they were both single. They talked all night and haven't left each other's side since.

The Propsal

In the car 2011

If you are looking for a fairytale story, look somewhere else, ‘cause this ain’t it. ... At this point, Tiya and Vicky had been together for 5 months and were inseparable. They were in the super lovey dovey stage – you know, where you’re on the phone so long that you get sleepy start having the, “you hang up, no YOU hang up” debate. Tiya thought, “I’ve gotta marry her no matter what”, so she bought a ring and held it for a week before mustering up the courage to ask Vicky the big question. Brave Tiya versus shy/reserved Tiya showed up and told Vicky she needed to see her before work to give her “something”. Vicky obliges so Tiya pulls up at Vicky's Aunt Bre’s house and called for Vicky to hurry out to the car. They exchanged pleasantries and Tiya proceeded to give Vicky a box. Inside the box was a note, no ring, just a note asking Vicky if she would marry her. Vicky was stunned but said yes without hesitation. Tiya then reached into her pocket and pulled out the heart-shaped ring she had carried around for a week, placed it on Vicky's finger, and told her she had to get to work. Smooth Tiya very smooth (protective strategy, LOL). Fast forward 11 years, they still choose each other every day despite all that life has thrown at them, good, bad, or ugly. And with this, the couple is honored to have you share with them, this special moment in celebration of their true love, happiness, and commitment to one another.
