Shaqat was born and raised in Kenya and moved to the U.S. in 2016 to attend Southeastern University. Victoria grew up in Tampa, Florida, and, after attending Florida Atlantic University in South Florida, she’s been happily settled in Central Florida ever since. On November 6, 2022, their paths crossed for the first time at a church in Tampa—Shaqat on the worship team, Victoria behind the camera. She noticed him right away (and immediately did a very subtle check for a wedding ring). He stayed on her mind the rest of that day. Just five days later, they connected through social media. Their spark was instant—the rest was history. Over the next two years, they built their relationship amidst long distance, grad school, and constant work travel. Eventually, Victoria relocated from Tampa to reside closer to Shaqat in Lakeland, Florida—the city where their unforgettable proposal took place. Now, life includes their golden doodle, Paisley, hosting friends, enjoying concerts and game nights, and dreaming up their future home—fueled by a shared love for interior design. They're so excited to begin their forever—together.
