It was our first day in Sint Maarten and we both decided to join a group of other students going to Mullet beach. We met on the walk to the beach and we became close friends throughout our studies on the island.

I thought I was planning a medical school graduation photoshoot… turns out, Omar had other plans! After snapping plenty of photos (and squeezing in an outfit change, naturally), we made our way to a stunning lighthouse overlook in Biscayne Bay. I turned around — and there he was, down on one knee, perfect proposal form and all!

After making things official in Sint Maarten, we moved to New York City to complete our third year of medical school. Our final year brought us to Miami, where we graduated and matched into residency in Ocala, Florida - Family Medicine & Anesthesiology.
