Our story began in the most unexpected but perfect way—over math. The summer before our freshman year at UC Merced, we were placed in the same math course. What started as study sessions quickly became the foundation of something much more meaningful. Omar began tutoring Victoria, and during those quiet moments solving equations and reviewing formulas, he noticed something more than just academic potential. He saw an adorable, nerdy girl with glasses, who radiated this vibrant, warm energy that made everything around her feel lighter. He couldn’t help but want to be part of her world. Victoria, meanwhile, noticed Omar right away. He had this calm, quiet energy—sweet, a little shy, and unexpectedly funny. He wasn’t loud or showy, but something about him felt safe, thoughtful, and genuine. He'd make her laugh mid-study session, or shyly offer snacks he brought with him. She wasn’t looking for anything at the time, but the way Omar listened, remembered the small things, and always showed up, it was impossible not to fall for him. What stood out most to Victoria early on was how kind Omar was. He never tried to impress—he simply cared. Whether it was carrying her books, helping her through stressful exam weeks, or being the one person who could calm her down when things felt overwhelming, he became her person without either of them realizing it at first. We became inseparable. Like any relationship, our early years came with their share of growing pains, but through every challenge, our bond only grew stronger. One moment that stood out to Omar was when he introduced Victoria to American football—a sport she knew nothing about—and she not only took an interest but cheered beside him at a live LA Chargers game. It meant the world to him that she embraced something that mattered to him just to make him feel loved. From Victoria’s side, a defining moment was seeing how Omar loved—quietly, steadily, with his whole heart. He supported her through every high and low, celebrated every small victory, and reminded her daily that she was never alone. He made her feel truly seen and loved, not for who she was trying to be, but for exactly who she already was. As the years passed, we built a life together piece by piece—starting with our first cat. Neither of us had ever owned a cat before, but together, we dove into it. That one cat soon became three, and our little fur family became one of the most joyful parts of our home. These cats are more than just pets—they’ve been companions during study nights, post-finals cuddles, cross-country road trips, and cozy winter mornings. From walking hand-in-hand with our fellow Class of 2021 on the first day of college, to tossing our caps four years later and celebrating graduation side by side with our families, we’ve shared milestones big and small. We’ve danced our hearts out at a Post Malone concert, and more recently, sang every word together at shows by our favorite artists—Grupo Frontera, Fuerza Regida, and Jessie Reyez. One of our biggest adventures? A road trip across the country—just us, our three cats, and the open road. We drove all the way to Vermont, stopping at Niagara Falls, taking in the sights, and laughing at every chaotic, unforgettable moment along the way. It was our first time in Vermont—and one of those trips we’ll be talking about for the rest of our lives. What started in a math class turned into a love that has spanned college exams, concerts, road trips, cats, and countless late-night talks. Now, as we prepare to say “I do,” we look back on everything that brought us here with full hearts. Our story is built on deep friendship, shared dreams, unconditional support, and a love that continues to grow every day. This is just the beginning—and we can’t wait for what’s next.
