In 2020 both Jared and Tori were hired to work on Summer Staff at Scioto Hills Christian Camp & Retreat Center. The pandemic hit and while Tori spent her summer volunteering at camp, Jared started working at Original Mattress Factory in Columbus, Ohio. The summer of 2022 came around and both of us felt the Lord's pull to work on Summer Staff. Working alongside each other as counselors, a friendship formed. After camp, both of us went back to our "normal lives" and jobs. In 2023, Jared came back another summer as Summer Staff and Tori kept working her job in a social work setting. In the middle of summer, an opportunity for Tori to come on as Permanent Staff arose, as well as an internship for Jared. So in the fall of 2023, both of us moved onto camp full time. As time wore on, while life and work became routine, a friend group formed of the young adults around camp. Dinners, days trips, and movie nights allowed us to know each other as friends first. While life got busier, the frequency of dinners and games night slowed, but for some reason, we were seeing each other more than ever. Grocery run? Let's just go together, it'll be easier. Trip to the thrift store? Let's just take one car. Only a few want to go to dinner? It's okay, let's go anyway. I'm making dinner, might as well make some extra, you wanna come eat? Our community saw it before we did. Our compatibility, communication, and ease with each other was a tell-tale sign to most of them. One of us (we'll let you guess who) met all of those comments with, "No, he's just my friend!", while the other played the long game. Our community and families have been extremely supportive from the beginning, and we have been able to share the Lord's faithfulness through everything. We are beyond excited to begin our lives together, and are so thankful for the story the Lord is writing!
