We are a dog-friendly winery, but dogs must remain on a leash or in a carrier at all times. The Evers Family caught vineyard fever when traveling through France, Italy, Germany, and Croatia, and in 1999 they decided to plant Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc grapes on the hillside at Twin Oaks. Since their first harvest in 2002, Donna Evers has been the winemaker, and in 2008 the first two wines were offered to the public: Chardonnay and Raven Rocks Red. In keeping with family traditions, the Twin Oaks Vineyard and Cellar operation are managed by Donna’s grandson, Clay McFarren. OPEN THURSDAY-MONDAY 1PM-7PM

Bears Den is an enchanting stone lodge reminiscent of a European castle, complete with turrets and tower. Among the forested acreage are several lawns and quiet escapes. A main attraction is Bears Den Scenic Rock Overlook, which offers a stunning view of the Shenandoah Valley. Visitors can access the overlook by driving up to the lodge and taking a short stroll down the path to see the view, or by parking in the parking area just off of Route 7 and taking a mild hike up to the overlook. The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley is open Tuesday through Sunday (closed Monday). Admission includes the galleries, gardens and Glen Burnie House (admission is not required to visit the first floor of the Museum where you can enjoy Art in the Halls and shop in the Museum Store. Please begin your visit in the Museum Lobby where admission tickets are sold. The walk from the Museum to the gardens takes less than five minutes; however, a visit to the site may easily last more than two hours. Sketching is permitted in the galleries. Painting in oil, acrylic, tempera, pastel, or watercolor is permitted in the gardens during public hours. Sketching is also permitted.
