We were only fifteen

12.06.2014

Dustin knew he wanted me way before I even knew he existed. Apparently, the first time we met we were playing frisbee in the front yard at the Marquardt's house but I did not give him the time of day. He later saw me on Ryan's (his best friend/ my God brother) Instagram and tried to reach out to me over text but I told him that he had the wrong number. Fast forward, now we are at a birthday party on May 19th, 2014 together for my other God brother Eric. We sat across the table for one another. We laughed, blew straw wrappers at one another and had such a good time! We both ended up going back over to the Marquardt's house. On the car ride back to their house, I leaned in very hard into every turn because I wanted to be really close to this cute boy. After he left that day we tried to text each other but it was not working no matter how hard we tried. We ended up figuring out that he blocked me from when I originally told him that he had the wrong number. We ended up figuring it out and messaged each other non stop every day after that. We ended up "courting" for the next seven months. He lead me back to God where he invited me to youth group every Wednesday night. My Uncle Chris would pick me up in San Bernardino when he got off work and take me to Hemet for youth group and then I would wake up bright and early the next morning to go back to school. We continued to grow with one another. Seven months later we went on a trip to Disneyland. We were taking pictures in front of the castle and that is where he asked me to be his girlfriend.

Six years later

We have grown together over the past couple of years. We were together nearly six years by the time Dustin asked me to marry him and it was the sweetest thing. On a road trip with my mom & sister we ended up at my favorite place Estes Park, Colorado. I had hinted to everyone that this trip would be the best time for him to propose because both of our families would be in the same spot but I was throughly convinced that it was not going to happen. While I was walking across the street Dustin snuck up behind me, grabbed my hand and walked me over to the river. I was in complete shock, I honestly could not believe that it was finally happening. On the walk over he kept trying to calm me down by asking me how my day was going. I saw my mom's boyfriend and was confused as to why he was in Colorado, he was supposed to be golfing! Once we got to the river bed, he gave me a bouquet of flowers and reminded me that he wanted God at the center of our relationship. Neither one of us could really remember what else he said other than will you marry me but I said yes! He knew how important it was to me to have pictures of the engagement so he had one of our really good friends fly all the way from California to hide in a tree and take some! We grabbed a quick drink and then headed down the hill where we got to spend the rest of the night with our family. We did a champagne toast, opened some presents and had some yummy cheesecake. We were so excited to celebrate our engagement with our immediate family but we are even more excited to get married on June 19th 2021!
