Their adventure began in sunny San Diego. They first met at a lacrosse party at UC San Diego. Deven noticed Victoria right away. Although we may have flirted in passing, nothing substantial blossomed until we took chemistry...organic chemistry, together. Three days a week, Deven would come and sit next to Victoria in the large lecture hall. Some (Deven) might say he wanted to sit next to the most beautiful girl in the class with a witty personality, others (Victoria) might say he was attracted to her extremely organized and detailed notes. But little did Deven know, Victoria also had a crush on him. Classic case of boy notices girl, and girl eventually falls in love with boy. During Christmas break that year, Victoria invited Deven to go on a trip to Lake Tahoe where our relationship grew closer. Our early relationship was full of fun and adventure in San Diego: surf dates for Victoria’s birthday, hikes around Torrey Pines, playing pool at First St. bar, and even getting dressed up for a night at the Emmys. Graduate school was the next major chapter for us, as this took Victoria to Chicago and Deven to Boston. During this time apart, each spent hours studying, but we were able to visit each other one weekend a month. We grew closer and fell more in love while exploring these two amazing cities together. We were finally reunited in Chicago when Deven started medical school. Chicago brought new adventures - hours of studying for Deven and Victoria’s first job as a Physical Therapist. We had many fun adventures in Chicago: climbing trips to Wisconsin and Kentucky, biking and running on the lakefront trail, and even moving in together! We learned to appreciate the little quirks about each other: Deven’s meticulous tupperware washing and Victoria’s delicious cooking. Then in July 2020, Deven's residency at Henry Ford Hospital moved them to Detroit, MI. Victoria is managing a physical therapy clinic in Allen Park, MI. and Deven is on a 24/7 coffee drip.

With a little help from friends and family, Deven set forth a plan to propose to Victoria in the same place it all started-Lake Tahoe. Before moving to Detroit for residency, Deven planned a trip to Tahoe. They spent time relaxing, hiking, and mountain biking. On their last day they spent the day paddle boarding on the lake. They stopped and took a small hike up to a lookout in Emerald Bay. Victoria noticed a beautiful picnic set up at a viewpoint. She thought “awww, how sweet is that”, not realizing it was for her. As they got closer, Deven reached into the picnic basket and pulled out the ring. Victoria was completely surprised and the moment could not have been more perfect.
