Even though we had a class together in high school, we never really talked until a year later when Caedon reached out to me on social media to give me advice about an English class. What started as a simple conversation quickly turned into talking every day. After what I insisted had to be a proper talking stage, we met up with our parents at our younger brothers' baseball game to get permission to go on our first date. On March 27, 2021, we went to Chili's for that first date, and the rest is history. One thing I'll never forget from that night happened before we even made it inside. A homeless man walked up to Caedon's truck and asked if he had any cash. While I thought rolling the window down at 9 p.m. on Highway 14 was absolutely insane, Caedon handed him five dollars without a second thought. It was one of the first glimpses of the kind and caring person he is, and it's still one of my favorite memories from our first date. Five years later, what I thought was a college graduation photo session turned into a surprise proposal at Walnut Grove. With the help of my sister, Caedon completely caught me off guard. Of course, I said yes. And now we can't wait to celebrate this next chapter with all of you.
