Victoria and I met at the end of 2016 at One Hope Church -- shortly after I moved to New Orleans. Even though I was immediately attracted to her, because I was so new to town, I wanted to make friends first (and never thought anything of our friendship). The following Spring (2017), to become better friends with a few of the guys at church, I joined a small group where we watched the Bachelor at Victoria’s house every Monday night. That semester was when we first became friends. On November 4, 2018 the light switch turned on and I decided that I definitely was going to pursue Victoria. After church that day, we were waiting on a special event to finish take-down. My roommate Michael, Victoria, and I sat in the hallway to chat while we had some time to kill. We laughed and made jokes at Michael's expense (as he was nervously preparing to propose to Tonia the next day). Then, when it was time to get to work, Victoria was my partner to finish taking down the stage. In that moment, I saw her as someone I could laugh with or be serious with or share a mission with. She was exactly what I was looking for. Though it took me nearly three months to ask her out (whether scheduling or nervousness delayed), it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. And since Vic loves this part of the story... At the end of our first date, I wasn't sure how I felt about it (or her). Fortunately, I had liked her enough (and long enough) that I decided to ask her on a second date even though I was on the fence. If I hadn't things would never be the same. (And for the record, it only took one more date for me to be hooked.)
