On June 26, 2016, fate introduced us on what was either the last day of school—or close to it—at Starlight Park. I was carrying around a giant drawing pad filled with my artwork when Brandon showed up with a few friends. Some of those friends happened to be mutual friends, and before I knew it, we were being introduced. As we talked, he flipped through my drawings and stopped at one in particular: Guts from Berserk. He couldn’t believe that I watched anime and shared so many of the same interests he did. The conversation felt easy, but before long, I realized it was getting late and I needed to catch the bus home. As I walked down the path toward the bus stop, I suddenly heard Brandon yell at the top of his lungs: “So, when are we getting married?” Everything stopped. Heads turned. The entire park seemed to freeze. I stood there completely shocked, feeling my face turn bright red as everyone stared. I turned around, embarrassed and speechless, and hurried home. Little did I know, that wouldn’t be the last time our paths crossed. Somehow, we found each other again. A random chance of meeting turned into countless conversations, endless laughter, and a love that only grew stronger with time. Since that day, we’ve been inseparable. Now, after more than a decade of memories, and growing together, we’re finally making good on Brandon’s question from all those years ago. We’re getting married. 💍❤️ August 6, 2027 ✨
