Tomorrow is the big day! Just a heads up, it is raining here in Grapevine. For the ceremony all will be well, but for the reception, the ground may be soft. Keep this in mind when choosing your heels as our dinner will be outside. Safe travels!

Broken Foot

A story told by Austin Leonard

The story begins as every poetic romance story begins; A depressed male posting delusional videos on social media prior to a motorcycle race weekend. Victoria was an unlucky spectator to my Snapchat story where I was going over everything that goes into a race weekend, while also occasionally pretending to saw my leg off and then doing pull-ups in the garage. She sent me a message saying “I don’t know how I got added to this, but it’s hilarious.” I gave some sort of response back and continued with my business, not knowing that fate or whatever powers that be, had influenced me to put Victoria on my private social media story. On Friday, August 26th 2023, I crashed my bike and blew up my foot. I felt great pain and also got to experience ketamine. One of the people that checked in on me was Victoria. That stuck with me. I had long time friends that didn’t reach out to check on me and see if I was okay, but Victoria, a near stranger, asked if I was good. She then proceeded to make a joke about my crash and I realized that she has a good sense of humor. From there, we started talking back and forth daily. She was extremely mature and intelligent. We had deep conversations about fears, failures, and triumphs throughout our lives. I talked about some of my military stories and even got some tears out of her (she swears she never used to cry before I showed up). I was not looking for any type of romantic relationship in the beginning, my thought was that women were innately evil and their sole purpose was to manipulate and lie just to get attention and some paid for meals and move on to the next ignorant bloke, but Victoria showed some traits that didn’t follow that routine. She recommended a book for me to read because I was just that bored sitting on the couch with my cast. So, in order to impress her, and pass the time, I read the book in 12 hours. She also spoke of wanting to go to a Candlelight Orchestra and within seconds I bought us tickets for a concert in January. This is the point where Victoria told her roommate that we were going to get married. After a couple of months, she directly asked me if I was going to friendzone her. I was at a loss at the straightforwardness, and I thought for a split second that Victoria was in fact, a man. I told her I didn’t have an exact answer and right after that I started contemplating: Is it worth it? Will she end up like the typical girl who just wants my money and attention? Is she going to yap all the time and have the inability to make simple decisions like where to eat for dinner? We planned to meet up for her traditional family Tuesday dinner with her cousin, Athena. I saw her in person on December 5th, and she was actually not ugly (thankfully). I was fully prepared to shoot myself if I got pranked by someone who looks like they jumped into an industrial blender. We immediately gave each other a big hug and had a good dinner and I luckily made a good impression on her and her cousin. I took her to the airport for her Mexico vacation and told her that we are dating now. This was planned perfectly because if she said no, I would have driven her away from the airport so she missed her flight, or called customs to inform them she had a weapon in her luggage. So lucky for her, she agreed to a relationship. Flash forward to April 12th, at MotoGP at COTA, I decided that if this girl was willing to walk in the heat for motorcycle racing that she didn’t really care about, then I had no problem proposing to her. On top of COTA tower, I did the unthinkable and proposed to an actual girl. This was planned perfectly because if she said no, I was throwing her off and going about my business watching racing. Luckily for her, she said yes. All of this started because I just so happened to have broken my foot at a race weekend. So, big shout out to cold Michelin slick tires, and my then primitive understanding of how throttle and lean work on a bike.
