How We Met

I would like to say that when Victor and I first met, we hit it off but that is far from the truth. If you ask Victor, we met freshman year at my dorm and I was sitting in the back of a golf cart with colored contacts in my eyes and a feather in my hair. I recall that we met a year later at our church’s Ugly Sweater Party and he was rude to me for asking him to move. From then on, he was not someone that I wanted to be friends with. I expected more from a boy that attended church. However, that following week… things changed. You see, every Monday I went to support our church while they played Frisbee (I never even played). Victor happened to be there that night and was sitting on the bleacher row above me. I had every intention of ignoring him that night (especially because of how rude he was to me before), but for whatever reason I answered and continued to talk to him after he initiated the conversation. He was out of my league and I knew in the pit of my stomach that if I kept talking to him that night we would become friends (Or so he says). That night I confronted him about what had happened and my perception of him. He apologized, we laughed, he smoothly asked me to put my number in his phone, and suddenly we were on this quest I called friendship. It wasn’t until another church event that he sought me across the dance floor and I became nervous, little did I know this friendship was destined for more. All through our relationship, we’ve had our ups and downs that tested our patience and commitment. It was hard, but in the midst of it all what has helped our love grow is our commitment to humble ourselves and put God at the center of our lives. I am so incredibly grateful for second chances and the life that God is preparing for us and we are excited to share it with you all.
