How We Met

So it begins

God brought us together during a missionary school in Colorado Springs called Youth With A Mission. I (Eva) first noticed Victor when I heard him play piano. We became close friends fast! Our first conversation lasted over 3 hours. Soon we would realize that we were checking each others boxes for future spouses and God had a future in mind with us as partners for life.

The Proposal

Forget the roses and candles

Now when I (Eva) tell this story, I don't want anyone to think Victor didn't try hard enough or wasn't romantic enough. He had the most beautiful proposal planned. He was going to take me on a road trip to Florida with many smaller surprise destinations on the way (for example, a concert for a band we both love). Then when we got there I was going to be surprised by some of our friends and grandma being there. Then he was going to take me out on the beach at sunset and pop the question. Buuuuuuut, Covid 19 dashed his plans. No one could travel at the time, the concert got cancelled, and it's not like he wanted to wait. So plan number two was a family sunrise hike up to angel's rest. But then hiking became "illegal" in Washington because of the pandemic. So his third shot at it was a plan to take me out to watch the sunrise together at the WSU campus. When we got there, it was super rainy and cloudy so there wasn't exactly a sunrise. As we were siting and watching the dark grey sky turn to a light grey sky, we saw a cloud of smoke and flames in the distance and heard sirens. We ended up watching an entire house burn down from start to finish...and then it started kind of downpouring....it was honestly hilarious. We planned for a romantic sunrise walk, and it turned into a disaster. And THAT'S when he decided to pop the question. I think we win one of the most unique proposal stories ever lol.

The Wedding

The apocalypse makes people do crazy things

Our original plans for our wedding was for it to be a giant party where literally everyone we knew would witness our love and commitment to each other. Whelp plans changed when COVID 19 hit and Victor got locked in the Hanes home for months on end because of stay at home orders. To add to the craziness, we decided to have a very small ceremony in the forest with the Hanes family on April 27th, 2020. All that to say, we finally get to have that really big party we were hoping for and I know that many of you have been anticipating! So even though we'll be married for a little over two years, let's celebrate like we're still newly weds!
