Being involved in the Crossfit community, Sarah and Austin would be at competitions or other community events but did not officially meet until their gyms were working towards qualifying for Regionals. Austin befriended her on social media and they started talking. While out celebrating with friends after the conclusion of Crossfit Open 2017, Austin invited Sarah to meet up. They immediately hit it off and he asked her on a date the following night.

Austin's family have their Annual White Elephant Christmas Party, only this year Sarah and her parents were invited to join. The gift that makes an appearance every year, the infamous 'Flippin Sweet' Napoleon Dynamite shirt Papa Daryl brought back one year was the gift Austin brought. After dinner, dessert and conversations among family, everyone moved into the living room around the fireplace where they each received a number, but the catch was Austin intentionally had the last number. The game goes through, gifts were stolen, little did Sarah know Austin would ask her to take his last name at the end of the game. Austin's turn, the only two gifts left were the one Sarah brought and since the traditional shirt was not opened yet we knew what was in the last bag. After he was looking for which gift to pick or steal, he reached behind the mini Christmas tree and pulls out a small box. Gasps, smiles, and chills fill the room as Austin walks towards Sarah. He gets down on one knee and all he could get out was, "I love you so much Sarah, will you spend the rest of your life with me?" She accepted with joy, they shared an embrace and kiss while our families rejoiced. We can't wait to celebrate with all of you! See you in Sacramento!
