We met 21 years ago when we were both opening a new Home Depot in Raleigh, North Carolina. We became friends and then casually dated, but then life took us to opposite ends of the country. Steve moved back to Florida to be close to his son, who was very young at the time. And Vicki moved to Colorado on a whim (shocking, right?).
Fast forward to Fall of 2017, when we reconnected through Facebook. One comment turned into some text messages, then hours of phone conversations every day. After almost 4 months, Steve visited Vicki in Raleigh. After a couple of visits between North Carolina, Florida and a trip to Savannah in between, we went a 7-night cruise together! Shortly after, Steve moved in with me in Raleigh.
On December 20, 2019, with the help of our great friend Jenn, Steve got our best friends together at one of our favorite hangouts for a "pre-Christmas dinner". What I thought was just dinner with friends before Christmas, turned into a proposal. When Steve started proposing, I didn't realize what was happening at first. Full disclosure... we had recently looked at rings, but the setting I liked had to be ordered and would take 5 weeks to come in. It turns out that Steve and the jeweler arranged for me to wear a temporary setting until mine came in so Steve could surprise me before Christmas. We are excited to start the rest of our lives together on June 10, 2020 when we get married in Montego Bay, Jamaica!!!
