How We Met

2/5/19

Two Words: Jamba Juice Dustin - We met at Jamba Juice where Amy had to wait on me because I was late trying to "play it cool". The date went well but little did I know that this date with this beautiful and goofy girl would be with my future wife. My plan of "playing it cool" worked! Amy - Don't let this man fool you, we met on Hinge (an online dating app for those of you who aren't cool enough to know that). Our first "meet up" was at Jamba Juice. He was definitely late. He said he was from Miami, but he pulled up in an old forest green Chevy and cowboy boots. Catfish vibes or nahhhhh?

When it began

5/20/19

Hangout Fest Dustin - We had been talking for a few months and had already decided to be exclusive with each other. We both went to Hangout Fest in Gulf Shores, AL to enjoy music on the beach and to see one of my favorite artists Kygo. After the trip on the drive back I asked Amy if she would be my girlfriend and the rest is history. Amy - Ah yes, Hangout Fest. Besides sneaking cheese puffs in my fanny pack to throw at Frankie in the mash pit, spending this quality time with Dustin is one of my core memories as a couple. This was the first taste Dustin got of my spontaneous nature, and I am happy to say I didn't scare him off too quickly. From sitting on his shoulders screaming at Jimmy Buffet to a dumpling food truck, Hangout Fest truly is where it all began for us.

The Engagment

1/29/22

Dustin - For Amy to say yes to a proposal I knew I would have to incorporate Kiera in everything. So the plan was to have bandanas made, shout out to Krista for making them, and propose on a walk to make it seem less suspicious and have Amy be surprised. The plan started with a short scavenger hunt to get Amy ready, then go back to Jamba Juice where we had first met. After that we would go to Barfield Park where we spent a lot of time walking Kiera and getting to know each other. With bandanas and ring hidden in my coat pocket we started our walk from a different spot than we normally would start. This was due to having both of our families present to witness the proposal. Amy started to figure out what was going on as we started the walk and by the time we got to the spot at the top of the hill where our families could see us, she already knew what was going on and tried to make it difficult by suggesting we go a different route than planned. Once at the spot I pulled out two bandanas, one for Kiera that read "Please say yes mom" and one for Jengo that read "Please marry my dad". With bandanas on and family witnessing at a distance Amy said yes! Amy- I woke up that day as if it was any other day. I reluctantly went to work and when I got off, Dustin was on his way up to spend our Saturday together as he typically does. He said he had something in mind for us to do that day, but all I really wanted to do was take a nap. He persuaded me to do the activity he had planned which was to go on a scavenger hunt. He had me pick out a cute (but warm) outfit and do my hair and makeup. My only request was that we go outside and take the dogs because it was a sunny day and I didn't know I was falling into his trap. We ended up going to Barfield park, one of our first date spots. Well, you know what happened next. I answered one of the easiest questions I have ever been asked. YES!
