After a long week of traveling for work, the last thing Vi wanted to do was attend a party at a karaoke bar. But alas, two of her friends (and now bridesmaids!) convinced her to get dressed, throw on some red lipstick, and attend the Minds Matter San Francisco holiday party. It was her first year volunteering, so she didn't know anyone besides her girlfriends who convinced her to go out. Upon arrival, one of her girlfriends suggested everyone take a shot with Jeremy. Even though Vi is the definition of a light-weight, she went along with it. As the night passed, Vi kept pulling out her phone to call a ride home, but her girlfriends kept convincing her to sit next to Jeremy and get to know him. When liquid courage finally hit and she wanted to sing a karaoke song, her girlfriends declined, and Jeremy eagerly agreed to sing with her. They mutually agreed to Fall Out Boy's Sugar, We're Going Down (though, her girlfriends will forever argue it was Mr. Brightside), and sang to their hearts' content. The group stayed up until the wee hours of the night, ending up at Cocobang, playing a soju game. Vi was convinced she would not be interested in anyone who wanted to play drinking games, but the next morning, Jeremy messaged her asking her to take a dance class. Vi's lack of coordination on the dance floor resulted in her declining the invite. However, they spent the next month sliding into each other's DMs, until one day, Vi finally got annoyed by Jeremy's subtle flirting, and dropped a 30,000-foot consulting joke, and he asked her to a proper date. Several late night phone calls from hotels due to work travel later, they finally met up for a bowl of pho at Golden Lotus in San Francisco, and the rest was history.
