For their first official date Ryan picked Sarah up for a night of bowling. They made their way to The Bowler, and Sarah was feeling confident in her bowling game. That was soon crushed as Ryan shamelessly destroyed her, 3 games in a row (insert Sarah's eye roll here). But for the record, Sarah did get a turkey during one of the games, which she considered to be even better than winning. Then they made their way to Front Street Taproom where they enjoyed local craft beers & Ryan decided to teach Sarah how to play cribbage. He won at that too.. But little did they know the numerous games of cribbage they would play while sipping on a beer at breweries and taprooms across the USA. Except now Sarah has gotten much better at cribbage.
Ryan easily convinced Sarah to take time off work to go explore the Northeast for a long weekend. He sneakily blamed the last minute idea to "credit card perks that were expiring soon", which Sarah didn't even think to question. They landed in Boston and drove up to Harpswell, Maine and explored the seaside for the evening. The next morning they took off on a hike that Ryan had strategically planned. They wandered somewhat aimlessly, Ryan was trying to scope out the perfect spot while Sarah was blissfully unaware. They made their way down to a cove and found a rock to admire the view. While Sarah was distracted by the seascape, Ryan finagled the ring out of his pocket and grabbed Sarah's hand. Now this part gets blurry.. partly due to the tears welling up in Sarah's eyes, but Ryan said some very sweet things and asked Sarah to marry him. Sarah, mouth agape, nearly malfunctioning, couldn't think of anything else to say except for 'REALLY?!' and that's all she seemed to say for a solid 3 minutes. And just like that, they were engaged!
