Frequently Asked Questions

Looking for answers about our special day? This is the place.
Question

What precautions are you taking for COVID-19?

Answer

We have limited the guest list so there will be fewer people present (also pursuant to guidelines set by the state of Michigan). We are expecting approximately 85 guests. The Crystal Ballroom at Lafayette Grand is a very large indoor space and has a capacity of over 500 people. We will be running at a mere fraction of that capacity. For the reception each guest family will have their own assigned table at least 6 feet from all other tables. Hand sanitizer will be provided for each guest. Masks will be available for all guests but we will not be enforcing their use. You are welcome to bring and wear your own mask if you wish. All meals will be individually plated and handed to each guest by staff wearing masks and gloves. Hors d'oeuvres will be individually packaged as well as dessert.

Question

What additional precautions is the venue taking for COVID-19?

Answer

The Lafayette Grand building is itself very large and spacious normally capable of hosting 4 events at once. Our wedding will the only event that day. Employees of Lafayette will wear masks and gloves 100% of the time in addition to having their temperature taken upon arrival to work. All doors and windows will be propped open so guests do not have to touch anything and to allow for maximum ventilation. In addition, staff will be wiping down surfaces throughout the event. Mask use is strongly encouraged in the hallways and restrooms. Bar tending staff will wear face masks and gloves, there will be no reusing plastic drink ware, and bar service equipment will be sanitized and rinsed frequently. All meals will be individually plated and handed to each guest by staff wearing masks and gloves.

Question

Anything else I should know about COVID?

Answer

If you are planning to come, please stay home if you're experiencing ANY symptoms such as: fever, chills, cough, fatigue, shortness of breath/difficulty breathing, muscle/body/head aches, loss of taste or smell, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea. Additionally, please stay home if you think you may have been recently exposed to the virus. We take COVID seriously and we wouldn't want to be responsible for hosting what becomes a "super-spreader" event. We want everyone to be safe and still have a good time so we're doing our part but we need you to do yours as well so please take note of any symptoms you may be experiencing and take your temperature in the morning before the wedding, just in case!

Question

What is the plan for guests to social distance?

Answer

We understand that everyone has their own social distancing comfort level. To lessen the amount of awkward conversations we will be providing red, green, and yellow bracelets. Taking a cue from traffic lights Red means no contact please I am keeping my 6 foot distance; yellow indicates an elbow or fist bump is okay; green means go in for the hug or the high-five, but please remember frequent hand washing and sanitizing is still a good idea. We will be having an open dance floor. We encourage everyone to have a good time but please respect personal space. It is encouraged to only close dance with members of your household.

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony and reception?

Answer

Yes, Lafayette Grande has plenty of free monitored secure parking on their property.

Question

Are there hotel accommodations available?

Answer

Yes, we have a block of rooms reserved at the Embassy Suites in Auburn Hills. The travel section of this site has all the booking information.

Question

Is there arranged transportation to and from the venue?

Answer

We do not have a shuttle arranged for the hotel. Please make prior arrangements to get home safely. Uber and Lyft will both be available.
