East Village

Des Moines, IA

There is a TON to do in the East Village regardless of what you enjoy day to day. If shopping is your jam be sure to check out Porchlight, Marné, May Eleven, AllSpice, Kitchen Collage, West Elm, and more! Looking for a craft cocktail? Bellhop Tiki Bar, New Northwestern, Bar Nico, and the Republic on Grand (top floor of the AC Marriott for those staying in our room block) are a few great options! If more casual drinks are more your jam, check out The Purveyor for wine and charcuterie, ‘85 Bar for a mini beer shot or a mixed drink, Up-Down for an arcade game + beverage, or Coa Cantina for a strong margarita! Below, we’ve also listed a few of our favorites for food and activities, but don’t hesitate to reach out if you need more recommendations!

Des Moines' Downtown Farmers’ Market

300 Court Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50309

For those arriving on Friday, enjoy the Downtown Des Moines Farmer’s Market on Saturday morning! There is food, shopping, coffee and more from 7am - 12pm.

Scenic Route Bakery

350 East Locust Street, Des Moines, IA 50309

Our favorite spot in the East Village for pastries, coffee, and a quick lunch!

The Iowa Taproom

215 East 3rd Street, Des Moines, IA 50309

A great spot for a casual lunch or dinner! Perk of having Ken’s speakeasy downstairs, and almost too many beers to choose from.

Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden

909 Robert D. Ray Drive, Des Moines, IA 50309

A great day activity to enjoy just down the river! The Botanical Garden has both indoor and outdoor gardens to explore.

Ernie's Boondock

Des Moines, IA 50309

Our absolute FAVORITE “dive” bar, that also has a food truck most weekends with a killer cheeseburger and cheese curds.

For all the days along the way
