They first met at a Young Adults game night at Vertical (then Harvest) Church in the spring of 2016. Nothing spectacular happened that night, though as the months went on, Jason began to pursue Becca in gentle ways. They went on their first date January 28, 2017 and their second date nearly a year later on January 26, 2018. between the dates, he softly pursued her the whole year while her feelings grew and she thought this just might work out for the long run. Dating, they set their hearts on the Lord and worked to show the gospel in their relationship as they openly pursued the idea of a future godly marriage.
Jason, as a history lover, works at the two historic houses the Charleston Museum owns downtown. Becca went with him in the fall of 2016 to the Joseph Manigault House for an event that promised dancing, but there never was. On December 8th, 2018, she finally went back– this time to see the house decorated for Christmas. After a quick tour of the decorations, they went out to the gate temple. It was raining just enough to give them a private moment for a short dance, a promise fulfilled. Then, as Jason put it, a promise made. He promised to love her and protect her the way Christ loves the church, if only she'd say yes. And of course she did! Then, after knowing each other two and a half years, dating for almost a year, they shared their first kiss together.
