One unseasonably warm afternoon in November 2021, Rick crossed the Andy Warhol Bridge to meet a Hinge date. At the same time, Isa took a seat on a step nearby to wait for her date to arrive and was treated to the show of a disgruntled man receiving a parking ticket. When Rick made the turn onto the aptly named Isabella Street, he was startled that the woman waiting for him had brown hair, when every photo he’d seen of her was platinum blonde. After their first date walking around the Andy Warhol museum, strolling downtown Pittsburgh, and eating lunch at No. 1 Sushi in Market Square, Rick and Isa began a casual routine of seeing each other for fun restaurant dates around the city. On their third date, Rick took the big step of bringing Isa to his favorite place in Pittsburgh: the Summit, where they were poured two ciders (one that Isa asked for, one that Rick did not). They continued this routine for several months until they went on their first trip together, a camping trip in Nelson’s Ledges Quarry Park for the Sunny Days music festival. Not only was Isa continuously impressed by Rick’s resourcefulness and knowledge about the outdoors, she was more in awe of the amazing friends and community that seemed to follow him wherever he went. Rick discovered a new facet of Isa when he discovered that she had been reading smutty romance books the whole trip and nobody had noticed. Following that trip, they made things official. Over the next year or so, they travelled, went to concerts, ate, drank, and explored new places as much as possible. They began tracking every espresso martini they tried together and soon they were looking for a new project and challenge to meet, prompting their decision to move in together. They worked together on finding the perfect place. Rick measuring and Isa crafting vision boards for each room, they set goals and projects for themselves and each other to keep their house running. Rick and Isa made a priority of continuing to grow their community in Pittsburgh that Rick had begun when he moved to the city years earlier. They made new friendships and nurtured old ones, growing roots deep on Mt Washington and in Pittsburgh. They legally tied the knot in August of 2025, a true representation of the partnership they knew would have to be strong and stable to support them both during their next chapter. Rick and Isa are so excited to celebrate their marriage with their closest friends and family at the place that proverbially started it all. They cannot wait to have more adventures, more espresso martinis to add to their list, and more cities to explore.
