We officially met in High School, but didn't really become friends until afterwards when Robert was in the Marine Corps and I was a freshman in college. One random Facebook message from Robert in 2010 and we really became friends, seeing each other whenever he took leave. However, we didn't become a couple until 5 almost 6 years later in December of 2015 because Robert is clearly an idiot. While there is no debate on who proposed there has been a decade long debate as to who asked who out first. On that fateful night in December, I asked Robert about the status of our relationship, are we friends, more than friends, etc. He responded with "do you want to be my girlfriend?" I said yes, then he said "well ask me out," to which I did. I have never denied I asked him out, though I stand in the camp of "Robert asked me out first" since he asked the question first. Robert stands behind the idea I was the one who technically asked him out first with his encouragement. - Robert and Mary approve this message.
