FAQs

Question

How does the wedding room block work?

Answer

We have reserved a limited number of rooms at special group rates at the Moana Surfrider and Sheraton Princess Kaiulani for our wedding weekend. Booking within the room block is optional but encouraged, as it keeps guests close to wedding events. Rooms must be booked using the wedding room block link or group code and are available on a first-come, first-served basis until August 26, 2026, or until the block sells out. Each guest is responsible for their own room, taxes, resort fees, and incidentals, which are paid directly to the hotel. Hotel cancellation policies apply and typically require cancellation at least 72 hours prior to arrival to avoid a one-night charge. Resort fees and taxes are not included in the group rate. Guests who pay for their stay with a credit card may earn their own Marriott Bonvoy points. Bookings made using Marriott points or free-night awards are allowed but do not count toward the wedding room block and are subject to hotel availability. If the room block sells out, guests may still book directly with the hotel at prevailing rates or choose nearby accommodations.

Question

Answer

Eligible block dates: Applicable for both hotels. Question

Should we visit other Hawaiian islands? What does each island offer?

Answer

Island hopping is completely optional. Oʻahu, where the wedding will be held, offers a great mix of beaches, culture, food, shopping, and sightseeing, and many guests choose to spend their entire stay there. If you’re extending your trip and interested in exploring beyond Oʻahu, here’s a quick guide to what each island is known for: Maui – Scenic beaches, whale watching (seasonal), the Road to Hāna, and a relaxed resort feel Kauaʻi – Lush landscapes, waterfalls, hiking, and a quieter, more nature-focused experience Hawaiʻi Island (Big Island) – Volcanoes, black sand beaches, stargazing, and diverse climates Lānaʻi – Secluded luxury, quiet beaches, and a very peaceful escape

Question

Do I need to rent a car?

Answer

A rental car is optional. If you’re staying in Waikīkī and plan to relax at the beach, explore nearby restaurants, and attend wedding events, you can easily get around using walking, Uber/Lyft, taxis, or hotel shuttles. If you’d like to explore beyond Waikīkī — such as the North Shore, hiking trails, Pearl Harbor, or scenic viewpoints — renting a car can be helpful. Keep in mind that parking fees apply at the hotels, so be sure to factor that into your plans. Many guests choose to rent a car for part of their stay rather than the entire trip.

Question

How expensive is Oʻahu? How much should I budget?

Answer

How expensive is Oʻahu? How much should I budget? Oʻahu is comparable to a major U.S. city in terms of cost. Prices vary depending on your travel style, but we recommend budgeting a bit more than you would for a typical domestic vacation. As a general guide (per person, excluding flights and hotel): Food & drinks: ~$75–$150 per day Activities & excursions: ~$50–$150 per day (many beaches and hikes are free) Transportation: ~$0–$75 per day depending on ride-shares or car rental Miscellaneous / shopping: Varies by preference Many guests find that $1,000–$1,500 for the week (outside of airfare and lodging) is a comfortable range for meals, activities, and getting around. There are plenty of ways to manage costs — from casual local food spots and free beach days to splitting ride-shares or renting a car only for part of your stay.
