Best Man
Thierry: Victor, aka Sparky for ruining our electrical tests at work (lol). My birthday buddy and best man (literally)! I cannot wait to celebrate with you! V: Victor! I heard so much about you from Thierry over the last 2 years, and had such a great time celebrating with you and Christina last year! I cannot wait to see you kill that African dance and celebrate with you both again!
Matron of Honor
Anji! My boarding school senior, my Big sis! Who would have thought that you rescuing my sorry butt from trouble with your classmates in Saint Francis would have led to a sisterhood spanning almost two decades?! You have been a strong hand pushing me, a silent voice encouraging me, and my biggest cheerleader and my confidante day or night through seventeen years of school, work, relationships and everything in between. I am so grateful for all you have been in my life, and so honored to have you stand by me during this time. Ei go hammer!
Bridesmaid
Aisha!! My badass, amazing Bumblebee big sis! Six whole years! Six whole years of you being my cheerleader, hypewoman, therapist, and always-there friend! I went from being a night-shift loner in Durham to having a whole girl gang! And because of you I never felt like I was alone/away these past 4 years. Between you, Jess and Ranita, I got all the support and advice I needed, especially when TK entered the chat! Thank you for always going out of your way to make me feel loved and thought of, and for encouraging me in my relationship from the start until now. I am so grateful to be your friend and little sis, and cannot wait to see you in full African queen regalia!
Groomsman
Thierry: My big little bro. I used to whoop his butt until he got taller than me, and now he scares me (just a little). He is always there for me, ready to help without asking any questions. As it should be. V: Brice! It has been such an amazing two years getting to know you (and Lexi!). Thank you for accepting me into your lives and letting me disrupt your weekend movies and hangout routines. I am so grateful to have a new brother, and I cannot wait to see your moves on the dance floor!
Groomsman
Thierry: Aka Kirby, Right Back At Ya! I am still shocked you know how to bike! I am so glad we met and became brothers. I am looking forward to celebrating with you! V: Chris! I heard so much about you, and how much of a friend you are to Thierry. I cannot wait to be meet you, and have you celebrate with us!
Bridesmaid
Jess!! My brilliant, elegant Bumblebee big sis! Who would have thought that a brunch of eight random ladies in the Raleigh/Durham area would lead to 6+ yrs of friendship?! You, Aisha and Ranita were the adult girlfriends I always longed for and never thought I would have. I feel so blessed to have you in my life, for all your support, even (and especially) through the physical distance that life has put between us. From the care packages, the calls and texts, and the relationship advice, you have been one of my biggest cheerleaders these past six years. I am so grateful for your friendship, and cannot wait to introduce you to your African tribe!
Bridesmaid
Eb! Of the many blessings God put in my path in med school, you were one of the biggest. From the first day I met you, I was in awe of how organized you were, how patient, and how well you were able to direct people with a soft hand and calm voice. You are one of the first people I told about TK when we started dating. I remember your sage words of advice and your prediction after you met him that we will end up here someday. You have so much wisdom and grace, and I really hope in spending time with you these past few years some of your amazing qualities have rubbed off on me. You and Cody have been a source of great help and support, and it means the world to that you are standing by me during this time!
Groomsman
Thierry: My brother, my friend, the smart ass that got me back into soccer. I cannot wait until Arsenal beats Madrid in UCL! V: Aram! I am so glad I got to meet you and celebrate with you last year! I am so excited to celebrate with you again and see all the dance styles I know you have been working on these last few months! PS: I am definitely *not* an Arsenal fan, so you know who I will be rooting for when that game happens!
Bridesmaid
Val! I remember the first few times we interacted in first year of med school. I noticed your light, how warm you were, how you made everyone feel comfortable. I told myself someone with so many great qualities would probably not have space for me in their life. But you made space. There was never a time I called or texted and you were too busy to respond. Every conversation we had, whether a simple story about school or some deep dive into our mental health, you were always there. When TK and I began dating I had so many moments of uncertainty, and I am so grateful for your calm, reassuring voice, to trust ourselves and trust God's Plan. I feel so blessed to have met you, and to call you my friend and sister. Thank you for choosing to celebrate this milestone with me!
Bridesmaid
Dom!! My amazing, violin-playing, skateboard-riding, African music-loving friend! I remember watching you ride your skateboard (dressed in your signature black and white and the sharp shoes!) the first few weeks of med school and thinking "That girl is so cool! I wanna be her friend!" I was so glad we finally got to connect, and be a part of each others' lives. I have missed our many hours of conversations, with you telling me what is "Fireeee!" and "A Bop!" and "A Vibe!" and side-eyeing all the food in my kitchen going "but The MSG!" I am so grateful to you for introducing me to your study buddies, and for giving the chance to be a part of our band of interesting friends. "The Fake Potatoes" would not exist without you. Thank you for being my friend and confidante. You made our lives in med school so much spicier, and I cannot wait to see you *finally* get down to all that African music you love so much!
Groomsman
Thierry: My brother, literally now. You got me into FPL and are the only one who clearly understands what I am going through (for better or worse haha). I know will save me from all things I have not even seen coming, and I am glad to have you in my corner. V: Temmybest!! My own brother, our bras-de-fer!! I am so grateful for the past three years you have been in our lives! Thank you for giving us the gift of Tanya, HG and little Peanut. I am so excited for you to stand by Thierry and hold his hand during this process. I get faith!!
