Verónica and Jeziel met in late August 2013 at C-Data, a student services area at UPRA. They had several friends in common, but the two of them never coincided. One afternoon, as both groups were chatting, a friend of Jeziel's wondered who Verónica was but Jeziel decided to burst out loud Verónica's name for everyone else to hear. An awkward moment turned out to be love at first sight and since then they have both been inseparable.
It was during Verónica's first internship abroad that Jeziel decided to pop the question. They would occasionally discuss their future plans together thus it was no surprise for the young couple to find themselves on the same page. Knowing Verónica's private nature and her love for the sunrise, Jeziel took her to the Thomas Jefferson Memorial in Washington D.C. Temperature was almost below 0 and it was nearly 6:00 am when he took off his coat, placed his phone at the steps of Jefferson and convinced Verónica to pose by him for a selfie. When he bent the knee, their only witnesses were the mesmerizing view of the dawn and the dark and icy Potomac River cracking in the distance. The instant was discretely captured and once the cold was unbearable, they ran towards the Jefferson Memorial, jumped, kissed, and nearly missed their Uber ride. The day was filled with historic sites, art galleries, and the promise for a better future together.
