How We Met

NYC

We met in New York City while I was doing my dietetic internship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan. I had my rotation in the food and nutrition department and worked in the kitchen. One Saturday I came in to work because I wanted to take another day off. I sat at my computer busy trying to get a project done, and kept seeing this chef coming into the office back and forth, about three times, and I thought to myself, what is this chef doing here in the office walking past me so many times, shouldn't he have to be in the kitchen making some food? I wonder what he's up to. Jason came over with his big bright smile and started the conversation, he made himself comfortable and sat down right next to me! He wanted to hear about the menu that I had been planning for the hospital and was super funny, as he normally is. The rest is history and he started off with that winning smile that captured my heart from the very beginning.

The Proposal

Summer Skies in Israel

Jason, his family, and I went to Israel in September of 2019 for his brother's wedding in Jerusalem. We traveled all around the whole country from the coast, to the Dead Sea, to the Sea of Galilee and had a wonderful time spending the week before the wedding with all the brothers together. A few days after the beautiful wedding, we were supposed to go to Petra in Jordan, but our passports got stolen while we were propeling down a cliff at a state park earlier that week. We were a little bummed that we couldn't go to Petra, but we made the best of it, and what's not to love about Israel? On Friday night just before sunset, Jason said we should go somewhere special that night. We couldn't get a cab because it was Shabbat, and all the stores were closed and there was hardly anyone on the street. I kind of had an idea what was going to happen, but I didn't know where he was going to take me. I made sure I was wearing something cute for the photos, just in case! So we finally got a cab and he ended up taking me to the Jerusalem Rose Gardens. We walked around and saw a few families there enjoying picnics and an evening stroll, and we walked up a beautiful hill with roses all around. Right before the sun was about to set, Jason got down on one knee and, I thought, oh my goodness, he's proposing to me! I honestly was so excited and I just couldn't believe it was all happening. I immediately said yes and was just so excited I couldn't contain myself! Just incredibly happy to have this amazing man in my life. We enjoyed the rest of the park and being surrounded by the beautiful hills of Jerusalem.
