To get to Varenna from Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP), you’ll first need to travel to Milano Centrale station. You can do this by either train or bus from the airport. From Milano Centrale, you’ll take a train to Varenna-Esino. Train schedules, pricing, and booking are available on TrenItalia.com, with tickets typically ranging from $7.50–$10 when booked in advance. Don’t forget to stamp your tickets in the small yellow box before getting on the train. Train times and prices can be found on the Trenitalia website.

If driving on the right doesn’t scare you, renting a car can be a great way to have more flexibility during your trip to Lake Como. The easiest option is to book one directly at the airport. Keep in mind that parking can be limited, especially during busier times of the year. There is a car park located across the street from the villa, and spaces can be reserved in advance.
