Garrett and Veronica met through mutual friends while out at a bar. Both were already hired as Police Officers and instantly bonded over that. Garrett took it upon himself to challenge Veronica at a game of "friendly" darts, which naturally turned into a competition. Garrett being the true gentleman that he is crushed Veronica and made sure she knew it. He made up for it later though by giving up his sweatshirt to Veronica as the night got cold, but she made sure to keep it in hopes he would eventually want it back. Luckily for Veronica he ended up texting her. Garrett may have won that night in darts, but little does he know Veronica was the true winner (or thief), stealing his heart and sweatshirt too.

Garrett and Veronica were helping to decorate his family's Christmas tree. Having gotten the tallest tree on the lot a tall ladder was needed to reach the top of the tree. Garrett asked Veronica to climb to the top of the ladder to place an ornament on a bare spot. Veronica climbed to the top and finally hooked the ornament on after a short struggle. As she turned around proud of her accomplishment Garrett was at the bottom of the ladder down on one knee waiting for her. She was so excited and shocked, but also now focused on having to try to climb back down what seemed like the world's tallest ladder. Thankfully she was able to do so before jumping into his arms and saying "Yes!".
