Naxos' Temple of Apollo – Portara, a huge marble gate and the single remaining part of an unfinished temple of Apollo of 530 BC, is the island's emblem and main landmark. Standing on the islet of Palatia, at the entrance to Naxos harbor, it comprises four marble parts weighing about 20 tons each.
You want to go windsurfing or kiteboarding? The northern winds that blow over Naxos create excellent conditions for that. You can even take classes. For windsurfing or kiteboarding you will need to go to Mikri Vigla. You can also do windurfing in Lagouna, next to the airport.
Naxos has some very scenic and traditional villages in its mountains! We highly recommend you visiting Filoti and Apeiranthos.
Naxos has many beautiful beaches. Check out: Plaka Beach, Hawaii, Agios Prokopios, Agía Ànna :) Bring an umbrella if you have, otherwise you can rent one. Don't forget sunscreen.

The town is built on a hill. At the top of the hill is the Kastro, or castle. Follow the small windy roads which has small shops, restaurants and bars.
