Question

When exactly is this happening? What is the situation with the several days? When do I need to show up?

Answer

Since we are asking so many of you to travel, we are offering a weekend packed with relaxed festivities. See the schedule for more details, but in short - we are starting with an informal get-together with food and drink on Friday (6.24) evening, onto a more official ceremony and meal on Saturday (6.25) afternoon, and ending with a farewell brunch on Sunday (6.26) morning. And in between, folx are encouraged to explore the property, start-up music jams and/or dance parties, and get to know each other. Everybody is invited to any or all of the events. Stay as long as you are able, come and go as you please. We are just happy to have you.

Cool, cool. And what's the dress code?

Answer

"Tie and dress shoe optional". In other words, live your best life, put on your fancy/funky threads, but also - it is the end of June, we are outside and we value comfort over style, so don't feel the pressure to dress to impress. Yes, the bride and groom will be donning a dress and suit for the official part, but don't worry - there will be several costume changes....

What is the food situation? Do I need to select a meal? What if I have dietary concerns?

Answer

We will have food/snacks throughout the weekend. All meals will be family / "help yourself" style - with multiple options for mains, sides, and other grazing options. Focusing on locally sourced ingredients, most selections will be vegetarian forward, but, rest assured, our Carne and Pesca eaters will be taken care of as well. We will make sure that there will be ample gluten-free options, though please be advised that most things will be coming through the same kitchen. If you have any concerns or questions, please let us know when you RSVP. Oh - and plenty of beverage options as well - boozy and non-alcoholic.

Ummm, Is there a rain plan?

Answer

Yes. There is a big beautiful barn (where the meals will be served) plus several other buildings. But - please pray for some good weather to whatever deities you commune with.

So.... Do I need to bring a gift? Is there a wedding registry?

Answer

In short - definitely not, your presence is gift enough, and there will not be a wedding registry. If you absolutely must insist - we will accept monetary gifts. In full transparency, we might use some of it to pay for this party, but our main goal is to raise donations for RefugeeOne and HIAS - organizations committed to aiding/supporting refugees around the world. In the interest of simplicity (and to avoid paying service fees), we suggest that you use Venmo (@mikhail-fiksel), Zelle (mikhail.fiksel@gmail.com), or PayPal (@mikhailfiksel) and trust us to dispense accordingly (we are also hoping to take advantage of gift-matching opportunities). I mean, what else is there to do? Did someone mention a theater?

Answer

This weekend is less about a wedding. and more about relaxing, hanging, and getting to know people. So please - do your thang. There are hikes on and off the property, many perfect picnic options, there is even a pond with fishing. Also, American Players Theatre is just a few miles away, and Saturday eve happens to be Opening Night of a production of Sense and Sensibility in their large outdoor theater (and yes, Misha is working on it - it couldn't be any other way ;) So, some of us are going to see a play - but no pressure, it is not required. We will also have movies in the barn, and you are welcome to make your own plans. After the evening's activities, we will reconvene for a late-night afterparty and some dancing and more surprises. But let us know when you RSVP if you are interested in the play, as we are aiming to purchase group discounted tix.

Wait, Is there really camping?

Answer

Yes - the property can accommodate multiple tent camp-sites and even has a couple of RV hookups. Plus, Governor Dodge State Park is literally across the road. But don't worry, you won't have to "rough it" - there are several buildings/houses with bathrooms/showers, dressing rooms, etc. Should be quite fun! If you are planning on staying on the property, please just let us know when you RSVP.

Hold up, I can bring a dog?

Answer

Yes! We got permission to bring four-legged friends, so our own pup, Mooji, is ready to hold court. You will be asked to sign a waiver, and there might be some areas that will be off-limits - so common sense logic will apply. But if you are comfortable with / interested in the idea, please let us know when you RSVP and we are delighted to make this happen.
