An introduction to our favourite story

Once upon a lockdown, when the world stood still but hearts still hurried, Venus ventured out for a bike ride with her dad — a breath of freedom in a time of face masks and distance. Little did she know, fate was fine-tuning its favourite fairytale. At a family friend’s house, Jean-Pierre just happened to be hanging around — jovial, joyful, and just the right kind of trouble. Their eyes met like two planets finally aligning after years of orbiting the same sun. They both recognized something — a “Wait… have I seen you before?” feeling — even though they’d never officially met. Turns out, they’d been playing hide-and-seek with destiny for years. Back in Gansbaai, 2015, they’d both basked in the same seaside sunsets. At Liefde by die Dam, they’d danced to the same beats in VIP, brushing shoulders with the idea of almost meeting. The universe had been plotting patiently, pressing pause until the perfect pandemic moment. From that bike ride on, they became beautifully inseparable — partners in puns, playlists, and plenty of adventures. Their love story sped faster than a downhill cycle, fuelled by laughter, loyalty, and a little bit of lunacy. Now, as they plan to tie the knot where the Orange River runs rich and radiant, their story stands as proof that sometimes love takes the scenic route — but always arrives right on time. Because when Jean-Pierre met Venus, it wasn’t just a coincidence… It was cosmic choreography, a case of divine déjà vu, and a reminder that even in chaos, love finds its lane.
