Like the saying goes, “There’s two sides to every story and then there’s the TRUTH” We both agree that we met in November 2016 while hanging out at Karaoke Monday’s at Los Cabo’s Mexican Restaurant. His side: After what should have been 4 hours of o.t. turned into an 8 hour work day, I needed a drink. So I decided to go to Los Cabo’s. I remember walking in and speaking to a group of friends and seeing a face that I’ve never seen before. After a short convo with her I knew I needed to get her attention again. I didn’t see her leave so I blew it that night. A few days later I go back to that same bar and there she was again. This time I knew I couldn’t drop the ball, I wanted to leave every kind of impression that was possible. After getting her to smile and hold a great lengthy convo with me I knew that it felt right and I had to know more of her. Long story short I got her number and we’ve talked everyday since… Her side: I was hanging out at the Los Cabo’s Mexican Restaurant with my friend Jobina. The bar was about to close and we were saying our goodbyes to our friends. I was looking down at my phone, and my friend Delax, tapped me and said “look V, that dude looks like your type.” I rolled my eyes and looked over at the guy that had just walked in, and said “yeah Lax you might be right.” He hugged Jobina and then went to the bar and started talking to another girl. I asked her who he was and she said “That’s my cousin Ken”. I watched him as he laughed and talked to the girl at the bar. I whispered to Jobina, “Tell your cousin she’s not the right one!” She walked over and did just that, and although he was kinda mad, it definitely got his attention. Later that night, we talked and exchanged numbers. We began talking and hanging out as friends over the next 6 months, before deciding to become a couple. The rest is OURstory!
We had just closed on our new home, and spent the entire week moving. Kenicky’s brother Funtino, called me and said that we all needed to meet up that weekend for drinks downtown to celebrate us becoming homeowners. We agreed to meet Saturday night, but I was extremely tired after the move and tried to cancel our plans at the last minute. Kenicky said, “Baby let’s just go for a quick minute so we don’t disappoint them.” I reluctantly agreed, but we were running late as usual. We pulled up to the Hyatt Centric downtown, and to my surprise everyone was already there on the patio of the hotel’s bar. I thought it was a little weird that they invited everyone just to have drinks, but didn’t think anything more of it. Ken went inside for a minute and came back to the table. We ordered our drinks, and then he stood up to make a toast. I was trying to stop him because we had just got there and it didn’t make sense that he was making a speech so early…lol As he was talking, he looked at me and said “I want to ask you a question”….He pulls out a ring, gets on one knee, and then asked “Will you Marry Me?” I was in such shock that I was speechless. Of course, I said “YES” and we were ENGAGED! We're so excited to celebrate our love and this next chapter of our lives with you. See you all soon!!
