James and Leah met their senior year of high school when James transferred to Berean Christian High School in Walnut Creek. They had similar friends, but did not speak very much until Leah added James on both Snapchat and Instagram. After talking through social media for a little bit, they began to speak more in person. One day after school, Leah asked James if she could finish her food they had gotten with a group of friends in his car with him before he drove home. He said yes, and what was meant to be a 10 minute thing turned into a 3 hour long conversation about anything and everything under the sun! They both instantly felt comfortable with one another and immediately realized that something was different. James and Leah quickly became close friends, and after about a month, James confessed to Leah he liked her, to which she responded she felt the same. About 2 weeks after that, James told Leah he loved her at a carnival at the top of a drop tower, right before they dropped (crazy, right?!). After attending Homecoming and Senior Prom together, James and Leah had an amazing summer together, practically spending every single day with each other. The two of them have overcome 9 months of long distance, completing college, and the hardships of everyday life for the past 4 years. Through every high and low, the couple has remained strong because of their close friendship they always prioritized and their walks with Christ. James has told Leah since the beginning that he was going to marry her, which she was a bit skeptical of at first, with her response always being "we will see." However, on October 24th, 2025, instead of telling Leah he was going to marry her, James took action and drove Leah to the Monterey coast where he got down on one knee, brought out the most beautiful ring Leah had ever seen, and asked her the question she had secretly been hoping for since their 3 hour long conversation: "Will you marry me?" !!!!
