Driving Distance from venue: 10 minutes Look for elk, moose, black bears, mule dear and more in places like Sheep Lake. Drive Trail Ridge Rd, the highest continuous paved road in the US, to an elevation over 12,000 ft. Trail Ridge Rd usually opens Memorial Day weekend, so be careful of winter weather conditions. Hike iconic trails like Bear Lake, Emerald Lake Trail, and the Upper Beaver Meadow Loop. ** Note that timed entry permits are required to enter the park starting at 9:00am, and starting at 5:00 am to enter the Bear Lake Corridor. Timed entry permits are very competitive and are often out of stock several weeks in advance. We recommend getting into the park before 9:00am to not need a permit and to see the most wildlife.
