Brian and I met the “good old-fashioned” way at a bar for a mutual friends’ birthday celebration. I guess you can call it a blind set up. Our friend whose birthday we were celebrating told Brian about me but didn’t mention him to me. I told her prior to going out that night I was planning on meeting someone else who cancelled on me earlier that day. I call it fate. I am glad and fortunate a friend pushed me to still go out that night because if I didn’t, I would not have met the man of my dreams. I first spotted Brian walking into the bar and thought to myself “who is that fine man wearing all black and why did he have a cane?” At one point in the night, I was standing at the bar when Brian approached and dropped his cane (which I later found out he had done deliberately). We locked eyes and after picking up his cane we started chatting. During our conversation, I found out Brian lived in Florida and was only up here for the holidays visiting his sister and family. By the end of the night, we exchanged numbers and he said he wanted to see me again before returning to Florida even though he wasn’t feeling well. Our first date was two days later on NYE where he showed up with cough drops and cold medication. He said he couldn’t have it on his conscience of me getting sick because of him. It was super thoughtful because two days prior I had smelled a cough drop while we were talking and quickly asked Brian if he was sick? Anyone who knows me knows I am a germaphobe. I knew at that moment he was going to be the one. Good looking, sweet, thoughtful, and funny!
