Omar and Perla met on what seemed like an ordinary Friday evening at church. It was Perla’s third visit to this new congregation—a place she had been praying for, hoping to find a church where she could grow roots, serve, and become part of a faith-filled family. Little did she know, her prayer would not only lead her to a spiritual home but also to the greatest blessing of all: the man she would one day marry. For Omar, the evening took an unexpected turn when he noticed the new girl at church. He felt something stir in his heart, not knowing that this first meeting would mark the beginning of forever. When he walked over to introduce himself, his charm and easy humor made a lasting impression—one Perla couldn't forget. As the weeks turned into months, their conversations blossomed—filled with laughter, shared stories, and a growing sense of peace and purpose. What began as friendship quickly deepened into something different, something sacred. After every church service, their bond grew stronger, with each conversation revealing more of the hearts they were beginning to entrust to each other. They remained friends for a year, both praying and seeking God’s will. If it was meant to be, they believed He would bring their hearts into alignment. On December 31 2024, Omar asked Perla to be his girlfriend. He rooted their relationship in Philippians 2:1-4, saying: "Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from His love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others." A year and six months later, Omar brought Perla to Mt. Baldy—a place dear to his heart since childhood. As a young boy, he once promised himself that he’d bring his future girlfriend there someday. In that special creek surrounded by memories and nature’s peace, Omar knelt down and asked Perla to marry him. Some love stories begin with grand gestures. Ours began with a glance, a smile, and a quiet whisper from Heaven that said, "This is the one."
