Our story begins under scandalous circumstances! It all started at a little, family-owned brunch restaurant in the Chicago suburbs. I (SJ here) started working for this company in 2009 as a hostess and Rocky was a busboy for the same company but a different franchise when he first moved back to the U.S. in 2008. Though we both worked for this family on and off for many years, our paths never crossed. In 2017, I was hired as manager of their newest location and after months of training and preparing the restaurant to open, I finally got to meet the staff I would oversee. One of the servers was Rocky. I remember hearing great things about this Rocky guy and was excited to get to work with him but was distracted by how handsome he was. I literally remember the very first thing that went through my head when I shook his hand which was, "Uh-Oh. I am in trouble." And in trouble I was! I developed the biggest crush I have ever had one someone, and coming from me that is saying a LOT. Not only was he handsome, charming, the hardest-working-cutest-butt I ever saw, but he was the kindest, most selfless person I had ever met. I could not sleep, I could not eat, I thought about Rocky all day and night and hated when I pulled into work and didn't see his truck in the parking lot. (Does this make me sound completely insane? Yes it Does. Do I care? No I do not.) After a few months of working together and me trying my best to remain professional, I finally asked if he would get a drink after work with a group of us. Three days later, we were fully in love and moving in together. We may have lost our jobs but we gained a whole lot more.
