In September of 2023, Justin and Emma met while working together as servers at Michael’s Cafe in Timonium, MD. What began as a simple workplace introduction quickly turned into something neither of them expected—a genuine, effortless connection that grew stronger with every shift they shared. Over the next six months, the two became close friends. So close, in fact, that they were often reminded by their managers to focus during shifts, as they couldn’t help but talk throughout the day. Coworkers would tease them for always ending up on the same tasks together, but it was clear to everyone around them that there was something special in the way they gravitated toward one another. From the beginning, Justin was open about his feelings, often making bold (and persistent) remarks about the two of them ending up together one day—even getting married. Emma, at the time, would laugh it off, seeing Justin as her good friend and not quite believing his words could be anything more than playful teasing. In February of 2024, Emma left Michael’s Cafe, and the two went their separate ways. Though life moved forward, they found themselves thinking about each other more than they expected, even without staying in touch.
