How we met

I asked to work for him, he asked to marry me.

I took off work for a phone interview with Planet Fitness, on Monday, April 19, 2021. At the end of the interview (which I crushed, by the way) the interviewer wanted to schedule an in-person interview with the Jesup manager. Seeing that I already took off from work that week, I had to interview with the Hinesville manager because he was within walking distance from my work and I could interview on my lunch break. That Thursday I walked in and introduced myself to the general manager who told me to have a seat. Moments later he beckoned me to the break room where he would conduct the interview. As I followed him, the most handsome, charismatic man stepped in front of me stuck out his hand, and said "Hey, I'm Vaughn." For the rest of the interview all I kept thinking was "Wow, this guy is so great." He made me feel so at ease, I wanted to impress him so bad because he had impressed me. If you know Vaughn, he has such a gift for making everyone he talks to feel so valuable and important. I was smitten. At the end of the interview, the general manager told me I would be training in Hinesville because Jesup was still under construction. The day before my first day, I made cookies. I was determined to get Vaughn's attention. One hour before my first shift my manager texted me and said, "You know you're training in the presale trailer in Jesup, right?" I was devastated. Here I was with a box of cookies and two women I was less determined to impress. But God knows how to put people together in special ways. On my second day on the job, I walked into the presale trailer with a message from my manager that she wasn't going to be there that day but a manager would be there to cover for her. You can imagine my excitement when I saw Vaughn walking in that morning. For the rest of the day, we hardly did any work. We sat and talked for hours. At the end of my shift, I was about to leave Vaughn all by himself for the last hour. I said, "Take my number if you get busy I am only three minutes away." Let's just say, he never needed me but he did message me anyway and we have been talking nonstop ever since. -Elizabeth
