We have chosen to hold a private ceremony the morning of October 29th, attended only by our immediate families. As we began to plan our wedding, we made it our goal to create a day that would feel as authentic to us as possible—embracing the wedding traditions we love and departing from that framework when it didn't suit us. When it came to our ceremony, our top priority was to be completely present and focused on each other as we exchange vows, and we couldn’t shake the feeling that the best way to do that was to have as small an audience as possible during this personal moment. However, while we see our ceremony as an experience reserved just for us, we see our whole wedding day as a celebration of our community, a chance for us to honor the individuals who have made our collective life so full and joyous. Our wedding is not limited to the moment in which we say the words that make us husband and wife—to us, sharing a table and a meal with our loved ones is a ritual just as sacred. We know this is an unorthodox choice, but we hope you can understand why we've made it, and we truly can't wait to celebrate our marriage with you.
We're calling it "creative cocktail"—think dresses and suits, but feel free to pull out that daring print or bold vintage piece that's been hiding in the back of your closet! If the weather cooperates, cocktail hour and the reception will be held outdoors, so please bring layers and think twice about stilettos.
We're trying to keep things small, so we can only accommodate those whose names we've listed on your invitation's envelope.
We recommend it! There will be limited Uber and Lyft availability and no access to public transit in Groton.
We will be providing shuttle bus transportation from each of our room block hotels, but the Herb Lyceum has a parking lot if you'd rather drive.
