The areas we recommend and the spelling of each of the towns are as follows: Kyparissia Filiatra Marathopoli They are all in the Messinia region. You look at the map provided under Things to do to get an idea of where the hotel should be located on the map of Greece.
We recommend renting a car at the airport for the longevity of your stay if you plan on going to different beaches or touring the area. If you plan on staying at the hotel/resort/Air BnB that you book for the majority of the time you can probably book a transfer or a taxi (ahead of time) for them to bring you down to the village and bring you back to the airport.
It will likely take 3 hours assuming you make a stop or two on the way down to the village.
Yes the highway will have rest stops every 30-50 miles. The last 40 minutes of the drive will be more country side and less opportunity to make stops.
You must have a valid Passport. Expired passports will not be valid and you will be denied travel.
In Greece, they use Euros and its recommended to probably exchange some cash prior to the trip. You can try this at your local bank, AAA (if you are a member) or done at the exchange kiosks within the aiports. The aiport kiosks are the most expensive option as they will add additional fees and the rate will be less favorable.
Yes, you probably will be able to use both, however, for debit cards its best your reach out to your bank first prior to traveling to make sure they are aware of the travel. The best credit cards to use are travel cards or a credit card that waives foreign transaction fees. The majority of the restaurants, shops etc will accept visa and mastercard. There will be very few situations in which they dont accept a debit or credit card. Amex and Discover are not usually accepted. With exception to some of the more touristy locations.
Yes! Greece uses 220 Volt and has a completely different plug than the US electronics. It is recommended you have an adapter or two.
