The Wedding Website of Elyse Vasina and Colin Vasina
Below are the options for flights, trains, and rental cars. Generally speaking, trains will be the most efficient, easiest, and safest option when traveling to city to city. We recommend renting the car once you get to the Terontola-Cortona station next to the villa or using one of the service providers below, possibly think about sharing a car with other guests too.

Travel Note

PLEASE READ: A note about transportation from our planners

Based on our extensive experience and feedback from previous guests, we have observed that arranging for local transportation, especially for short trips, requires careful planning due to these local characteristics. We understand that not all tourists prefer driving, especially when they want to enjoy cocktails or wine without worrying about transportation afterward. However, if there's no convenient transportation service available at the right price and time, it may outweigh the benefits. From our perspective, we strongly recommend having at least one car available during your stay. This would facilitate activities such as grocery shopping, station pickups, and other short trips, making your stay much more convenient. For this reason, we recommend a car rental company located at Terontola station, a major railway hub where many tourists arrive by train. This company not only offers car rentals from their office but also provides delivery directly to the villa if booked in advance. We advise against underestimating this aspect to ensure a pleasant vacation experience. In this area of Italy, there's still a lack of local culture regarding taxi services for nightlife or dining out. We hope this discussion hasn't bored you but rather emphasized the importance of what we're trying to convey. Below are the necessary details to contact Autonoleggio Il Girasole, the recommended car rental company. Massimo, the owner, has been our dear friend and supplier for over 20 years and is capable of fulfilling all your needs. To ensure seamless mobility and explore the beauty of our surroundings at your own pace, we strongly recommend considering car rental options through Autonoleggio Il Girasole. We eagerly await your arrival and are committed to making your stay with us truly unforgettable! Rental Car

FCO and FLR Rentals

WE DO NOT RECOMMEND RENTING FROM THE AIRPORTS. DRIVING IN ITALIAN METRO AREAS IS TERRIFYING, TO SAY THE LEAST. If you are willing to give it a try or are not going through a large metro area in a car you are driving see below: FCO Car rental desks are located in Office Tower 2, they are easily reachable via the pedestrian tunnels which connect the Terminal buildings to the Multilevel Parking structure. Signs to the rental car area are located in the Arrivals Area. FLR Car Rentals are located at “Palagio degli Spini”, connected to the airport by a free shuttle bus that runs every 20 minutes. The shuttle bus stops is inside the short-term car park, just outside the terminal.

Train

Train from Rome

From FCO, take the Leonardo Express to Roma Termini Train Station. It takes roughly 32 minutes and leaves the airport every half-hour, or every 15 minutes during peak hours. It's non-stop service from the airport to Termini. The first train leaves the airport around 6:30 am, and the last of the day around 11:30 pm. Tickets cost $18 each way and will be purchased at the airport before departure. Additionally, you can take an Uber or taxi to Roma Termini station, but it may take longer than the train. From Roma Termini Train Station, take a train to Terontola-Cortona station. The bullet train takes approximately 2 ½ hours, and tickets should cost between $10-$30. The train leaves every hour from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm. Tickets can be purchased as early as mid-April on Tren Italia's website. Once you arrive at Terontola-Cortona, you can either take an Uber or taxi to your accommodations. The Terontola-Cortona station is a 15-minute drive to Villa Baroncino. The total cost of the trip should be approximately $35 each way per person.

Train

Train from Florence

From FLR, make your way to the Peretola Aeroporto tram station. Once at the tram station, take the tram on the T2 route to the Alamanni - Stazione Santa Maria Novella. The tram runs every ten minutes from 5:00 am to 12:30 am on weekdays and 5:00 am to 2:00 am on Fridays and Saturdays. The cost is €2 a ticket. Once to the Alamanni station, make the short walk to the Firenze Santa Maria Novella Station. From the Firenze SMN Station, you have three options to get to the Terontola-Cortona station which is 15 minutes from the villa. You can take the Trenitalia, the Trenitalia Intercity, and or the Trenitalia Frecce. The Trenitalia runs at the top of each hour and takes around 1:30. The Trenitalia IC takes around the same time and costs around the same but only runs twice a day. The Frecce is the shortest option at 53 minutes, but it only runs once a day and it is more expensive at €20 a ticket. All three options can be found on the Trenitalia website linked above. Once you arrive at Terontola-Cortona, you can either take an Uber or taxi to your accommodations. The Terontola-Cortona station is a 15-minute drive to Villa Baroncino. The total cost of the trip would be ~€15 using the lower-cost trains and ~€20 using the Frecce line. Prices may vary, I would recommend looking through all the options on the Trenitalia website.
