Question

Transportation from and to the airport (ATH)

Answer

Taxis are available at the airport, make sure you have cash (euros)! You have the option of public transportation as well! Please see below: Finding your way at the airport: Athens airport isn’t a huge airport (consists of one main and one satellite terminal) and it’s definitely not a chaotic one. There are plenty of signs and English speaking staff to help you find your way. To the bus departures: Buses and taxis depart just outside the exit at the (airport) Arrivals level. Just follow the “Buses / limousines” signs. At the bus departures area there is also a ticket booth which is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. To the metro/suburban railway station: The airport’s train station is where the Metro and Suburban railway trains depart, from adjacent platforms. The station’s building is at the (airport) Departures level (if you arrive in Athens you’ll take the elevator up) and it’s connected to the main building via a passageway with a moving walkaway. It takes 3 – 5 minutes to get to the station from the main airport terminal’s entrance/exit. Again, follow the signs “to Trains”. At the station, there are ticket booths open when the trains are running. Question

Do I need cash while visiting Greece?

Answer

The answer is yes! While most places in Greece now accept all major credit cards, there are some minor cases where credit cards not issued in Greece are not accepted or a credit card cannot be used. As a result, we recommend you have cash on you at all times. The official currency of Greece is Euros (EUR).

Question

Is it going to be hot in Athens during July?

Answer

Yes, chances are Athens will be very hot during that time of the year. We recommend you to carry water with you at all times, use proper sunscreen and wear a hat.

Question

Is Athens a walkable city?

Answer

Yes, if you decide to find a hotel in the city center (highly recommended), you will be close to all major sightseeings and museums. However, please keep in mind that you should be very careful at pedestrian crossings - cars only stop at traffic lights and do not tend to give priority to pedestrians on crossings away from traffic lights.

Question

What about Uber?

Answer

Uber is available in Athens! No need to download a different app. Make sure you add a credit card that has no international transaction fee (travel card). Taxis are also available, but they primarily accept cash, so make sure you have cash on you.

Question

Where should I plan to stay?

Answer

We recommend you to book a hotel in the city center of Athens (see Travel section for recommendations). If you visit Athens for a few days, it makes sense to be in a walking distance from all major sightseeing (the Parthenon, museums etc.). In this way, you won't be needing a car while staying in Athens, and if you do (for example, to come to the wedding venue), you just need to order an Uber or taxi.

Question

Transportation to and from the wedding venue?

Answer

We recommend you to come to the venue with Uber/taxi, and leave the venue the same way. The venue will be able to order a taxi for you at any point during the event. You can always drive to the venue, but it will be more convenient to get an Uber/taxi so you won't have to worry about drinking!

Question

Attire?

Answer

Semi-formal!
