It was about a month before moving to Michigan... We were put into a group chat for our upcoming pre-MBA trip. Both of us had gotten our #1 pick - getting scuba diving certified in Belize. Varun introduced himself on the group, and it caught Pooja's eye - Pooja DM'd. Little did we know we were chatting with our soon-to-be best friend and future life partner. August 20, 2022: We met for the first time, sharing an early morning Uber to the airport. From waiting to board the flight to getting through immigration on the other side, Pooja felt an unusual sense of comfort and care from someone she'd only recently met. On the boat from Belize City to the island of San Pedro, Pooja ate the meal Varun had scouted for her on the menu, and we talked about our dreams at/after Michigan Ross. That day we both felt like we were going to be good friends over the course of business school. The trip continued, and scuba was soo cool! We saw a whole new world beneath the portion we'd known. Days were busy, and while Varun would ask Pooja to come hang out with the group after a full day of scuba, Pooja was ready to call it a night and get rested for the next big day. Varun was hoping the entire trip that we'd get to soon spend some time... August 25, 2022: It was the last night before coming back to the US and after dinner, Varun and Pooja finally got to talking. They sat at a table and talked for hours. It was only once Pooja came back to her hotel room that she felt... butterflies?! Oh and 30+ new bug bites (no exaggeration) that she was completely unbothered by during their talks. Varun felt an inexplicable sense of comfort and ease that left him curious about what the future held in store. Over the next few months, Pooja and Varun started spending more and more time together, and love grew. Pooja was inspired by Varun's compassion, energy, creativity, and curiosity. Varun was awed by Pooja's kindness, thoughtfulness, and enthusiastic attitude to life. Fast forward 3 years and we continue to be amazed by each other every day. The big day where we become husband and wife is almost here and we can't wait to celebrate with you as we start our official forever!
